star trek: the next generation, season 7.

it’s all over folks. its the end of all at good things. (ha. ha. ha.) err..sorry bad joke. brent spiner shines as always. what i loved about tng was that they kicked it up a notch from the original series and instead of the federation saving every known alien species in the galaxy from civil war, they brought the issues back to the ship and spoke more of culture and social reform. the philosophy of star trek did a complete turn around. the original series was too openly americanized. bringing about a russian, a negroid, an oriental and a neutral vulcan on board really didn’t achieve much in the height of the cold war. kirk wasn’t the saviour of all galaxies. tng built up characters and gave up the idea of saving planets. that’s what rocked. also picard, unlike kirk, had some respect for the prime directive.

all in all, probably one of the best tv shows ever produced and not cancelled. (hint: watch firefly)
