time magazine has compiled a list of the top 100 english novels since 1923. masterpieces such as animal farm and 1984 by orwell, money by amis, watchmen by alan moore (also listed as THE BEST novel by readers poll, no surprise there.), naked lunch by burroughs, one flew over the cuckoos nest by kesey, a clockwork orange by burgess (is that even english?), great gatsby etc. all made the list. check it out.
